In the meantime here is a quick guide to getting started.

1. You will need an idea and the desire to make your idea become reality.  It is advisable to begin with something that really interests you and find your own niche market.  For example, you may love motor cycling, so create a Website about motor cycling and everything that you think will interest fellow enthusiasts.  You can then use the "vehicle"of your Website to sell products online, related to motor cycling.  For example, special customising parts, second hand motor cycles, motor cycling holidays etc. The beauty is, you do not necessarily have to buy and stock anything at all, there are many companies out there for whom you can become an affiliate and get paid generous commissions.

2. O.K. So now you have your idea, you will need a Website. You must first register a domain name.  That will be your Website address i.e. www.motorbike-fun.com.  To do this we recommend one of the following: BlueHost or GoDaddy for all domains apart from .co.za domains. Go Daddy is the Worlds foremost Domain registration company and their rates are very reasonable.  GoDaddy also offers a variety of hosting packages and an array of tools to help you market your Website.  BlueHost offers a domain registration and hosting package at a very reasonable monthly fee. Igolide is hosted by BlueHost. If you want a South African domain i.e. .co.za then we strongly suggest that you use AfriHost. They are not necessarily the cheapest but they are the most professional South African company we have come across.

3. Designing and building your Website: Igolide offers a full design, build, registration and hosting package or you can design and build your own, using the tools supplied by Blue Host and GoDaddy. AfriHost will also build your Website for you, if you wish. Another alternative is to offer your project on Getacoder and give thousands of Coders Worldwide the opportunity to bid on your project. 4. Now that you have your idea, your domain name and your Website, you will need a hosting company for your Website. This is a company that will provide a server, on which your Website will be hosted and from which you, or your Webmaster, can administer your  Website, making any alterations, changes or updates, as and when necessary. We do not recommend using a South African Host unless absolutely necessary. As with Domain registration, we recommend Blue Host, GoDaddy or Afrihost, as your South African alternative. You also need to consider search engine optimisation (SEO). This is necessary to have any chance of achieving good positions on the major search engines.  We give our subscribers free advice on SEO but if you use a Web designer then ensure that you include SEO in your project brief. If you use Igolide, SEO is part of the package. Then of course you have to submit your website to the search engines which is another service offered in the Igolide package or we can recommend software for your self built Website.

5  Just one more thing: You must make sure that your Website is legal by inserting your terms and conditions, privacy policy etc.  We highly recommend that you purchase this simple and inexpensive programme from Shawn Casey. Shawn is an ex lawyer himself but has collaborated with a top legal expert in this field to ensure that your Website is bullet proof. In less than an hour, using this software, anyone can ensure their Website is totally legal.

6. Taking and making money: You have now spent a few Dollars, Pounds, Euro's, Rands or whatever, setting up your Website and now its payback time. If you have simply set up an affiliate Website you will be sent commission cheques on a regular basis from whomever you have signed up with as an affiliate. If you are selling your own goods or services via your Website, you will need to establish a merchant account with your bank in order to accept credit card payments online. For anyone in the USA or the UK this is a simple procedure and you can find any number of merchant account suppliers by simply doing a search on Google etc. You can then compare the rates and services offered and make your choice. It is not so easy for South Africans unfortunately. In South Africa you will need a merchant account from one of the big four banks. From our experiences at Igolide, we strongly recommend ABSA and will even help you through the registration process should you wish. 7. Marketing your Website: To make any money you need people to visit your Website. There are more Websites on the Net than there are people in the World, so it is highly unlikely that your Website will ever get top ranking on the major search engines unless you are focusing on real niche markets. Don't despair however as there are many ways of driving traffic to your Website. The quickest method of getting traffic to your Website in the meantime however, is to use Google Adwords and possibly Yahoo ads. With Google Adwords you bid for certain keywords or phrases relevant to your Website. The higher you bid, the higher placing you will receive on the Google page that comes up when someone searches for your keywords or phrases. Google Adwords is a very versatile tool as you can refine your customers by country or even town and you can set a budget on your ad. campaign.  Do a search on Google to learn all about it.  Yahoo also offers a similar process as do all other search engines.  Remember however that Google is by far the most used Search Engine Worldwide, followed by    Yahoo and MSN a distant 3rd.  Do not rule out other search engines but to start with concentrate your energies on Google.

8. 9. You can actually start earning money online without even having your own Website and so saving on all those set up costs.  Many companies selling via the Internet will offer you a cloned or a reseller Website that enables you to make money, in the form of commissions, by selling their products or services.  Some of these commissions can be very generous indeed. All you have to do is the marketing of the cloned Website you have been supplied with and any orders emanating from it will be tracked by affiliate software    and automatically credited to your account. 10. Bulk email marketing: For effective marketing it is essential that you build your own database of opt in email clients, or potential clients.  Regular emails or a newletter to your database will bring you rich rewards.  Remember, you are not trying to make one sale, you are trying to obtain a customer for life.
